Develop data collection, analysis and presentation skills. Your proposal can be based on a specific film director, actor or genre, but also on specific themes or theoretical approaches. My main research and teaching interests are in Russian poetry from the eighteenth-century to the Thaw from Gavrila Derzhavin to Iosif Brodskii , and especially the work of Anna Akhmatova, Boris Pasternak, and Osip Mandel’shtam. My research interests are focused on the history of Russian linguistics, particularly that of the late Imperial and early Soviet period. By focusing on questions of intercultural awareness at an advanced intellectual level, the TLRP offers a forum for academic engagement and reflection in matters of critical interest relevant to the contexts and environments under discussion. Previous supervision topics have included: As students are expected to spend AT LEAST seven months in the host culture if studying a single language, or AT LEAST four months in each host culture if studying two languages, it is expected that they will engage with the TLRP as soon as they arrive, and that they will work towards initial consultation with their supervisor within one month of arrival.
Assessment At duryam end of each year you will be given an assessment mark for each of the modules you have taken. Marks in your second-year modules are carried forward to your final year, when you will be awarded a degree classification based on your performance in the second- and final-year assessments and the work you will have completed during your year abroad.

I specialise on issues of univeraity and sexuality, and especially on the depiction of men, masculinities, sex and sexualities on the screen. My research ranges from the Enliightenment, Romanticism universuty Classicism to nineteenth-century varieties of Dissertwtion, Modernisms and contemprary literature. During your studies in years 1 and 2 you will have been working with diverse and novel ways of approaching a range of subjects and issues, and will have seen that your tutors are setting out advanced intellectual agendas across many periods, cultures, and disciplines.

I would be happy ,lac supervise dissertations focusing on many authors, topics and themes, or comparative diesertation in the broad fields of contemporary literature and culture. In recent years, I have supervised undergraduate work on Latin American visual culture, Northern African immigration and race in Spain, and dictator narratives about the Dominican Republic.
I have supervised dissertations on Nietzsche and nihilism, Nietzsche unievrsity Faust, the physiognomics of vampirism, word and image in German Romanticism, and on Kleist and genre. My main area of study is contemporary Spanish film and popular culture. The aim of the Dissertation module is for you to deepen your knowledge of one aspect of your studies by researching and writing in the target language an extensive piece of work in an area relevant to one of the optional modules that you are taking at final year level.

Durhaj relevant cultural module that you need to take alongside your Dissertation does not need to be from the same language area; its relevance may be to do with the cultural forms analysed or the kinds of issues addressed. My research explores the interaction of language-internal, language-external and social factors in language change and development and has focused on the Spanish-English contact in the USA, Spanish and minority languages in Spain and Latin America, and the Welsh-Spanish contact in Argentine Patagonia.
I am a scholar of the modern and contemporary Atlantic. The TLRP aims to develop and enhance strategies for independent learning and initiative, foster a genuine commitment to diswertation and the utilization of appropriate research methodologies, provide the ability to organize and manage a longer project, and offer the ability to write fluently and accurately in the target language.
I am also interested in the history of Slavonic languages from the comparative structural, etymological and sociolinguistic perspectives.
